Full video vimeo.com or www.blip.tv or media.newhopechurch.ca In this message we’re going to seek out God’s face via facebook. “There is a force capable of synchronizing a large population in very little time, thereby creating spontaneous order” Jesse Rice, The Church of facebook “If you think of the kind of things we revere, whether its justice or love or altruism, those things are fundamentally social — they have to do with interactions with others. So there’s a very deep and fundamental connection between social networks and goodness.” Nicholas Christakis, Physician and social scientist at Harvard. From Report on Business, p 60, March 2011 “Authentic connection is described as the core of psychological wellbeing and is the essential quality of growth-fostering and healing relationships. In moments of deep connection in relationship, we break out of isolation and contraction into a more whole and spacious state of mind and heart.” Psychologist Janet L. Surrey, The Church of facebook, p28 “My prayer is not for them [his disciples] alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even

The Power of Open: A Global Discussion Google New York 20 September 2011 President Benigno S. Aquino III keynoted the opening ceremony of a forum entitled “The Power of Open: A Global Discussion” held at the Google office on the second day of his working visit to New York. He is the only head of state invited to address the opening ceremony of the all-day multi-stakeholder, ministerial level conversation focused on the role of openness in improving responsiveness, fostering accountability, creating efficiency, fighting corruption, and other similar themes. The event is related to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) multi-lateral initiative set to be formally launched today by the eight Steering Committee governments composed of the United States of America, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, United Kingdom and the Philippines. In his message, President Aquino stressed the importance of openness on the part of government in order to achieve national solidarity of purpose and action between the people and their leaders. “Engaging our fellow citizens in dialogue positively reinforces a culture of openness. A continuing conversation between the government and its citizens builds a positive, powerful connection between individual leaders and citizens, fostering the reintegration of government with society as a whole. In other words: openness inspires trust, which is the foundation of a genuine partnership,” the President said. He cited several concrete examples

Fostering Integrative Learning Part 6

Visiting speaker, Dr. Pat Hutchings speaks on fostering integrative learning in Academia.

© Rebecca Sommer, Sommerfilms 2010 New York City is a major stopover of the East Coast migratory flyway. Over 355 bird species live in the Big Apple or take refuge here during migration. Many of these birds are injured by flying into buildings that have sprung up along their ancient migratory pathways, others by cat attacks, vehicles, and human interference. Yet New York is the only major city in the US that does not have a wildlife rehabilitation center. The Wild Bird Fund, a non-profit 501(c)(3), provides emergency care for over 1000 wild birds and animals in New York City each year. Working with Animal General and the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine, two veterinary hospitals on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the Wild Bird Fund is the central resource in NYC for wildlife emergency care and rehabilitation. This critical work is accomplished utilizing only borrowed space and volunteer labor. What the WILD BIRD FUND does It starts with a call from someone who has found an injured, ill, or orphaned bird or animal. The rescuer brings the patient in for a full exam including wound care, x-rays, surgery, splinting, diagnostic tests, and medicine. The Wild Bird Fund cares for all federally protected birds and critical cases, and trains the rescuer how to care for the non-critical patients. This year, over 4000 people called the Wild Bird Fund seeking information and help for distressed wildlife. Vision for the Future In 2010, the Wild Bird Fund aims to expand by 50% its

2009 Live United Video 1

This was a song and video composed for the United Way of Passaic County in 2009. In todays challenging and often uncertain markets, sustaining fund-raising revenue and cultivating new sources of income has become more difficult than ever. Rock Our World Productions’ mission is to provide measurable support that substantially benefits the non-profit industry. We focus on providing an alternative to antiquated fund-raisers that simply do not work anymore. These events do not speak to the passions that drive todays donor demographic, and are especially ineffective with an economy scarred by recession. Rock Our World Productions provides non-profit organizations with opportunities to easily host cost effective events that yield substantial results. Armed with the knowledge that music is the single most powerful medium in fostering emotional connections, we produce live, theatrical, multi-media rock concerts centered on themes of hope and change, and with messages that inspire a call to action in all communities. Rock Our World is 100% results driven, individually packaging each one of its events to target our clients demographic and forging a deep, lasting emotional connection with them. In order for organizations to flourish today, resource development, as a craft, must evolve to meet the challenges of today. With the continued mission of providing measureable support that substantially benefits the non-profit industry, Rock Our World Productions is a vehicle for that change

TEDxGrandValley – Uma Mishra – Fostering Community through Development Work

Uma Mishra is a senior at Grand Valley State University pursuing an English (Language and Literature) major and Chemistry minor. Through her time in service in the US Army she became aware of how human action can leave an indelible mark on society, the environment, and our way of life. She started the GVSU Ghana Nsu (Water) Project to learn not only about sustainable community development but also how to approach development from a humanistic perspective rather than a capitalist one. Through this project, she has not only learned a great deal about herself but also that society has lost its sense of duty to the global community. Although this realization may seem devastating, it excites her because the room for possibilities and opportunities is endless. www.tedxgrandvalley.com AboutTEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
